Pursuant to the Bill (Reg. No. 5252), children shall be enrolled to the comprehensive secondary education establishments in the age of seven, the period of study for a full comprehensive secondary education being curtailed to ten years.

The Bill introduces amendments to the Laws "On Comprehensive Secondary Education", "On Education" and "On Pre-School Education".

Volodymyr Polokhalo, Committee Chairman, believes that "such an important issue as curtailment of period of study for a full comprehensive secondary education to ten years requires substantial public discussions and expert assessment. It shall also be discussed at the parliamentary or committee hearings".

V. Polokhalo stressed that "education is conservative by nature, and shall not become an object for different experiments and unjustified extremes". Moreover, he stated that "such important laws shall not be adopted depending on the political or electoral situation".

Three Committee members voted for further drafting of the Bill, two members upheld its rejection, one member abstained from voting.
